The instant of greatest eclipse takes place on 2078 Nov 19 at 12:40:02 TD (12:38:15 UT1). This is 0.2 days after the Moon reaches perigee. During the eclipse, the Moon is in the constellation Taurus. The synodic month in which the eclipse takes place has a Brown Lunation Number of 1928.

The eclipse belongs to Saros 156 and is number 2 of 81 eclipses in the series. All eclipses in this series occur at the Moon’s ascending node. The Moon moves southward with respect to the node with each succeeding eclipse in the series and gamma decreases.

This is a very shallow penumbral eclipse. It has a penumbral eclipse magnitude of only 0.0616 and a penumbral eclipse duration of 66.1 minutes. Gamma has a value of 1.5148.

The penumbral lunar eclipse of 2078 Nov 19 is preceded two weeks earlier by a annular solar eclipse on 2078 Nov 04.
