The instant of greatest eclipse takes place on 0107 Oct 04 at 05:45:13 TD (03:07:25 UT1). This is 2.8 days after the Moon reaches perigee. During the eclipse, the Sun is in the constellation Virgo. The synodic month in which the eclipse takes place has a Brown Lunation Number of -22451.
The eclipse belongs to Saros 84 and is number 17 of 72 eclipses in the series. All eclipses in this series occur at the Moons descending node. The Moon moves northward with respect to the node with each succeeding eclipse in the series and gamma increases.
The solar eclipse of 0107 Oct 04 is one of the rare hybrid solar eclipses. In this particular case the eclipse path starts out as total but later changes to annular.
The hybrid solar eclipse of 0107 Oct 04 is preceded two weeks earlier by a partial lunar eclipse on 0107 Sep 20.
